Brandon Stanton is the photographer, author, and creator of the popular website Humans of New York. The blog, which is also accessible via Facebook and Instagram, holds an audience of over 225 million followers across social media platforms.

With the initial goal of photographing 10,000 people throughout the city, Stanton set out to create what he called a “photographic census” of the city’s residents. He posted his photographs online, slowly gathered a fan base, and eventually began to include quotes from his subjects alongside their pictures. Today, his project exists as the blog Humans of New York. It is widely known for its powerful photographs and in-depth stories, which together allow for glimpses into the lives of everyday people whom Stanton happens to meet on the streets of New York City.
